My Favorite Cloth Diapers

Have a baby that is still in diapers, or maybe you’re planning for a newborn? These are my top 5 favorite cloth diapers. This list is always up for discussion because cloth diapers, just like reusable diapers don’t work the same for everyone. Some kids are heavy wetters at night so you’ll need a different nighttime solution than I would. However, after over a year of cloth diapering these are my favorites!

BumGenius (Cotton Babies) Cloth Diapers – Cotton Babies tops my list only because they have so many different types of diapers under the same brand. We used BumGenius Freetimes during the day and Flips with prefolds at night. This allowed us to customize our nighttime diapers without having to buy a special type of diaper for an overnight solution.

Softbums Omni and Echo Cloth Diapers – These diapers were another favorite, but didn’t top the list because of the velcro. They are essentially shells that you add the inserts into, which once again allows for customization. Another favorite from these? They are literally one size fits all because the legs can be sized up or down with adjustable elastic.

Wolbybug Cloth Diapers – I actually won my one and only Wolbybug cloth diaper when I first started diapering and it quickly became one of my favorites. It was a ladybug like print, and it was an AIO (all-in-one) that fit perfectly. It did it’s job and that’s why it tops my list.

Osocozy Prefolds – These aren’t technically diapers, but they go on the list because they could be used solely as diapers with a snappy and cover. We actually used these as inserts in our Flips for nighttime customization. We used the bamboo ones and they hold a lot of liquid!

Grovia Cloth Diapers – These would probably be at the top of my list, but I didn’t learn about the brand until towards the end of cloth diapering, so we only owned one. It was a great diaper and very customizable, but they recently came out with a O.N.E. diaper, meant to be the true “all-in-one” diaper!

All of these diapers were rated based on how well they held up and actually worked for us over the last year. Plus, take a look at how cute some of those prints are! I know that I missed out on some favorites, but sticking with my budget, once we had enough diapers I stopped purchasing them which helped me save even more money in the long run! I covered the average cost of raising a child per year previously, and buying cloth diapers can help cut down on those costs!

BabyGuyBox Unboxing and Review

Have you ever heard of The Baby Guy? If you haven’t, you should check out his Facebook page, or any other social media outlets that you use. He’s always posting about the latest and greatest baby products, and he doesn’t just show you a picture. He goes in depth about everything you could possibly need to know. Not super interested in the latest baby products, he’s also super funny, offers tons of giveaways, and often times you’ll get to see his cute nieces and nephews! Now on to the BabyGuyBox!

The BabyGuyBox is relatively new, but it seems that there will be 2 offered every month with different themes. This month was baby wearing and an “Eco” box. The boxes are $59.99 shipped, and he offers a preview of the brands before you order. Seeing that the eco box had cloth diaper brands, I knew that was the one for me! Now for the unboxing…

There it is! This is an honest to goodness, didn’t touch anything, first look picture of the inside of the box. I’m a huge fan of surprise boxes, if you’re not you could probably skip to the next post. Now, what’s inside, and is it truly worth $60?

Inside the BabyGuyBox               Grovia and AppleCheeks Cloth Diapers

In the box:

AppleCheeks Microterry Little Bundle; Retail Value: $25.00

I was pretty excited to receive an AppleCheeks diaper, as we’ve never used this brand before! Plus, do you see that gorgeous bright red? There’s almost nothing cuter than a cloth diapered bum!

Grovia Cloth Starter Set; Retail Value: $20.00

We have a Grovia O.N.E. diaper that we really like, so I’m also excited to try this one out. If you don’t cloth diaper you may not understand, but for one you should, and for two this diaper feels amazing. It’s super thick and looks like it could be our new nighttime diaper!

BabyGuyBox Contents

Bannor Toys Classic Baby Rattle; Retail Value: $10.00

This is a super cute, handcrafted wooden rattle. The wood and stain are organic and safe for baby! I browsed their site and they have a lot of nice toys, and I love that some of them can be personalized!

Natursutten Pacifier; Retail Value: $9.00

I don’t think that we will use this pacifier, simply because it seems quite small and Baby Budget already has one that she’s pretty attached to. However, it will make a nice baby shower gift!

If you’ve been keeping track, we are already over our $59.99 purchase price!

Little Standout # Teether; Retail Value: $15.00

This is definitely a first of it’s kind! It’s a cute design, and made of non-toxic materials. It’s 100% silicone, and can be put in the dishwasher which is always a huge plus for me!

Fresh Wave Crystal Gel; Retail Value: ???

The flyer that came with the box about Fresh Wave says that it’s available exclusively at Target. However, I’m unable to find it on the site. I received the gel and a Target coupon, so I’ll have to see if my Target carries it. I’m unsure about this one simply because I have dogs who get into everything, so we’ll chalk this one up as a freebie.

Motherlove Diaper Rash Jar; Retail Value: $9.95

I’m pretty excited about this as well because I’ve heard some pretty great reviews! I will have to say we may not use it often because since cloth diapering we’ve never had a diaper rash. Yes, you’ve read that right, we’ve never had a rash! Seriously, you should try cloth diapers, and no I’m not getting paid to say that.

bibbybubby bibs; Retail Value: $12.00

These are super cute, and would be perfect for a drooler. However, Baby Budget isn’t much for drool, so this might be added to a future baby shower gift as well.

Loohoo Dryer Balls

LooHoo Dryer Balls 3-pk.; Retail Value: $29.00

I’m sure you already know this, but I’m a huge fan of dryer balls! They cut down on drying time, and get rid of the need for dryer sheets! I recommend having at least 6 for larger loads, but for smaller loads 3 is perfect! LooHoo does a Tuesday giveaway every week on their Facebook page for a chance to win your very own!

Molly’s Suds Laundry Powder; Retail Value: $3.00

I’ve previously received a sample of Molly’s and I must say I do really like this laundry detergent. I’m a huge advocate for natural products, and their slogan being “safe for people and the planet” really does ring true throughout their brand!

Items you don’t see:

Naturepedic Burp Cloth; Retail Value: ???

We’re past the stages of truly needing a burp cloth, so once again this will find it’s way into a baby shower gift.

Nova Naturals Pixie Teether Doll; Retail Value: $10.00

You don’t see this simply because Baby Budget has already claimed it. It’s not currently being used as a teether, but it is being carried around everywhere, so therefore I must highly recommend it!

Sponsor Discounts: The box also contained various flyers from sponsors offering discounts to their sites. Wee Urban even offered a surprise gift card, mine was $10!

Now let’s do the math! All items totaled, except for the two that I couldn’t find prices for is $152.95! The box is only $59.99! Those prices don’t even include the shipping amounts that it would cost to mail each item if you were to purchase them individually! Surprise boxes may not be for everyone, but if you find one that caters to your needs, like this month’s eco box, then go for it! I’m hoping for an amazing Christmas themed box in the future so this most likely won’t be the last time you see the #BabyGuyBox!

If you want to place an order next month, or just learn more about the box you can do so here! Let me know if you’ve purchased one and what you thought!

Lullaby Baby Dryer Balls

Laundry is something we all have to do, and saving money while doing laundry isn’t the easiest. You can coupon for detergents, or make your own, and then there’s line drying or the dryer. Living in the midwest the dryer is the main option for most of the year. Washing cloth diapers, baby clothes, my clothes, and Papa Budget’s clothes means a lot of laundry! This led me to search for ways to cut down on my drying time, without having to hang my clothes outside or inside on a rack. To my surprise, I found dryer balls!

Lullaby Baby Dryer Balls

Have you ever seen or heard of these little beauties? These dryer balls are from Lullaby Baby and they come in packs of 6, which is the perfect amount for most regular loads of laundry. If you are going to do a smaller load using 3 will work as well. They are made of 100% Premium New Zealand Wool. They are perfect in every way because they can replace dryer sheets, reduce drying time, are 100% natural, and are hypo-allergenic! Perfect for baby clothes or even cloth diapers!

The dryer balls come in an adorable bag, and for container/bag junkies like myself, this was the perfect touch. You can use it to store them, however I always leave mine in the dryer, so I’m pretty sure this bag will find a new use! They also come with a cute handmade sheep purse!

Lullaby Baby Dryer Ball Bag

They may sound too good to be true, but I promise that once you give them a shot you won’t go back to your dryer sheets! If it’s the scent of the sheets you are missing you can simply put a drop or two of essential oils on the ball, let dry completely and then pop them in the dryer! Plus, they last a really long time, I purchased a set of 3 last year and they are still going strong! You can purchase your own set here, and then come back and let us know how you like them!
